August unemployment rate drops to 4.9% for Huntington County

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development recently released its August Unemployment report. According to the report, the August Unemployment Rate for Huntington County stood at 4.9%. This is a significant improvement from the July level of 6.7%; however, the July rate was affected by both temporary events within General Motors and its supply chain--as well as seasonal adjustments to the workforce numbers.
"Regardless, 4.9% in Huntington County presents a very encouraging outlook for our local job situation," said
Mark Wickersham, executive director, Huntington County Economic Development. "With recent expansion announcements at Huntington Aluminum, Novae, PHD, and the ribbon cutting at Echo Lake Foods, we have a lot to be thankful for."
