Retirement Living magazine features Huntington

The cover story in the Fall 2012 issue of Retirement Living features an interview with Mayor Brooks Fetters, detailing Huntington’s plans for fulfilling the “Communities for a Lifetime” grant.

Earlier this year, Huntington was one of three Indiana communities, including Linton and Valparaiso, chosen by Lieutenant Gov. Becky Skillman’s office to receive $16,000 each to study how to make their communities livable for all ages and abilities.

In the article Fetters discusses how Huntington is connecting seniors with community and student groups, considering allowing golf carts on city streets, working to make the town fully ADA-compliant and taking a closer look at the city’s network of trails.

What Huntington does will serve as a blueprint for other communities in Indiana, said Fetters.
