October Unemployment Rate at 3.6%

As one hundred-twenty Huntington County residents returned to the workforce in October, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the same report shows the Huntington County unemployment rate at 3.6% in October.

The report, covering the period between September 11 and October 10, 2018, reflects a slight increase in unemployment from the previous month.  The September rate stood at 3%.

"There were no reported layoffs in Huntington County during the reporting period," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.  "The increased rate is the result of adjustments to the number in the total labor force, the total number employed and seasonality within the data," he added.

County employers continue operating with job openings unfilled, reinforcing the continued strength in the job market.
