November Unemployment Rate Increases Slightly

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the November 2015 Unemployment Report.  The State reports the Huntington County Unemployment Rate stands at and even 4%.  This is up from October's rate of 3.5%.

Regionally, according to the Community Research Institute of Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne, the rate increased as a result of an increase in the number of people entering the workforce.  While that trend is not reflected in the data for Huntington County, "the rate is 1.5% lower than one year ago and 2.7% lower than January of 2015," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.

"The economic outlook in Huntington County continues to be strong," Wickersham added.  "The State and Regional economic development efforts continue to compliment our local efforts and have demonstrated success to the benefit of our workforce," he concluded.
