May Unemployment at 3% June 27, 2025 Report The Indiana Department of Workforce Development in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has relased the unemployment report for May. The rate reported for Huntington County was 3%.The rate was up slightly from April's 2.7% and reflects both an increase in the overall labor force as well as the number who are employed. The reporting period typically covers April 11 – May 10. Job posting site, Indeed.com, now reports over 600 immediate job openings within 10 miles of Huntington and over 5,000 available jobs within 25 miles of Huntington. The May rate in Huntington County puts the County tied for the 69th lowest unemployment rate of the State’s 92 Counties, and tied for the 5th lowest rate among the 11 Counties in NE Indiana. "While we should celebrate that 97% of the labor force is employed, we shouldn’t forget that if a person is among the 3% who are unemployed, they need and deserve all the help we can give them in connecting with the numerous jobs available in NE Indiana and thankfully the reporting period confirms there are good opportunities," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.Click here to read the May Report.
