Site Selection Magazine (http://www.siteselection.com), Norcross, Georgia, the official publication of the Industrial Asset Management Council, has released their 2011 Governor's Cup Issue, evaluating the top metropolitan markets, micropolitan markets and top industries for 2011.  The publication, in recognizing the top 100 micropolitan markets in the United States (defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as rural counties whose largest city is smaller than 50,000 people) lists Huntington as tied for the twenty-first (21st) best micropolitan community for economic development success in the United States in 2011.

Three (3) other Indiana Communities made their list for 2011.  Richmond (tied with Huntington at 21st) and Bedford and Warsaw (tied at 48th).  This is the second time Huntington has been recognized by Site Selection Magazine, having tied for 25th in 2010.

"It is exciting to see Huntington receive national recognition for our economic development efforts again in 2011," said Mark Wickersham, Executive Director of Huntington County Economic Development.  He added, "Again, this is a confirmation of the strength of our local employers and the team at the governmental level working together for the benefit of our Community."

Clients of Huntington County Economic Development announced thirteen (13) completed industrial projects in 2011 accounting for a total investment of over thirty-two million dollars ($32,000,000.00) in new capital and one hundred thirty-two (132) new job commitments while retaining nine hundred seventy (970) existing positions.  The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce also announced nearly twenty (20) additional new retail and service businesses in 2011.
