Huntington Hosts Indiana State Robotics Championships

Thirty-two teams traveled to Huntington to compete for the opportunity to advance to the World Championships of high school robotics talent.  The competition originator, FIRST Robotics, a non-profit public charity founded to inspire youth interest in science and technology, has grown to over three thousand teams globally.  Coming into the April event in Huntington, the local team, 1501 T.H.R.U.S.T., had finished seventh globally in 2016.

"This event showcases the finest student engineering, science and business talent among young people in Indiana," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development.  "The students have given our Community a fantastic opportunity to host this event.  I offer our thanks and congratulations, in addition to our financial support," Wickersham added.  Nearly 3,000 people visited Huntington for the event.
