Huntington County United Economic Development Board Names New Executive Director March 27, 2026 Report HUNTINGTON – The Board of Directors for Huntington County United Economic Development (HCUED) is excited to announce Chris A. Martin as the organization’s new Executive Director. Martin, a Logansport, Ind., native who served six years as his hometown’s mayor, has a breadth of experience with transformational projects that strengthen communities and build momentum for the future. “What excites me most about Huntington County and this opportunity is the chance to help build on an already strong foundation,” Martin said. “Huntington County has clear potential, strong leadership, and a community that is thinking seriously about the future.” During his time as Logansport’s mayor, Martin led projects that balanced immediate needs with long-term vision. Huntington County faces similar priorities – modernizing infrastructure, expanding housing, enhancing quality of place, investing in downtowns, and supporting a strong business environment – areas where Martin has proven experience. He is eager to work with city and county leaders. Under Martin’s leadership, HCUED will focus on housing, commercial growth, site readiness, infrastructure, and long-term investment strategies that support both current employers and future opportunities. “I took pride in helping position Logansport as a city willing to think big, work collaboratively, and pursue lasting impact,” he said. It’s the same approach he’s bringing to Huntington County’s economic development initiatives. Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Capella University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in hospital administration. Before serving as mayor, he worked in retail, restaurants, and mental health services. He credits those experiences with shaping his people-centered leadership style and giving him a strong understanding of the challenges families face every day. His background in public service further strengthens his ability to lead complex projects while managing budgets and public expectations. “The HCUED Board of Directors is looking forward to working alongside our new executive director, Chris Martin, when he begins his role on March 30,” HCUED Board Chair Eric Fawcett said. “Chris brings extensive experience in industrial development, small business growth, housing, and hospitality, and we’re confident he will do great things for Huntington County.” Martin succeeds Mark Wickersham as HCUED’s executive director. Wickersham, who retired last year, served in the role for 17 years. Wickersham helped guide more than 200 impactful economic development projects, leveraging $11 million in combined private and public funding to attract over $1 billion in private investment to Huntington County and support the creation of more than 3,400 jobs.
