February Unemployment Slightly Lower

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics have released the February 2017 unemployment report.  According to the data, the unemployment rate for Huntington County is 4.3%, down slightly from January's 4.6%.  The February report covers the period from January 11, 2017 - February 10, 2017.  The statistics are based on the County of residence, not the location of the employer.  The rate is down from 4.9% one year ago for the same reporting period and shows 808 Huntington County residents being among the unemployed.

"The jobs outlook data continues to be encouraging, said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development Corporation. "According to careerbuilder.com, 776 jobs are currently available within 30 miles of the center of Huntington County. Job seekers can visit the homepage of Huntington County Economic Development to find links to multiple job posting sites," Wickersham added.
