The Indiana Department of Workforce Development and the U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics have released the April 2017 Unemployment Report.  According to their statistics, the unemployment rate for Huntington County stands at 2.4%.  The rate has dropped from 3.6% in March and 4.6% in January. The data compares to 4.1% from one year ago.

"The April unemployment rate for Huntington County is the lowest of any point during my tenure at Huntington County Economic Development Corporation and covers the period which includes the initial layoffs at UTEC," said Mark Wickersham, executive director.  Wickersham has been with the agency since 2008.  "Nearly every major employer in Huntington County is recruiting talent.  According to Career Builder.com, there are 840 job openings within a 30 mile radius of the Huntington County Courthouse," Wickersham added.
