Huntington, IN-- The unemployment report for May 2011 has just been released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.  Although the figure shows a slight increase, now 8.5 compared to 8.4 in April 2011; 125 Huntington County residents have found new job opportunities since the previous reporting period.

Also, adding to the figure for May and June are recent high school graduates who will be entering the labor force and looking for work.

"The job market continues to stabilize," states Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development.  "Huntington County employers are still creating new jobs and the rate is plateauing even as new laborers enter the workforce."

There are several projects in Huntington County that are continuing job creation, including investments by Huntington Aluminum, Perfection Wheel, Continental Structural Plastics and Helena Chemical Corporation.
