September Unemployment Rate Drops

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics has released the September 2018 Unemployment Report.

The rate for Huntington County was reported at 3%, down from 3.8% in August and down from 4.1% one year ago.  The rate is a full 1% lower than in February of this year.  Nearly 270 more Huntington County residents were employed in September as compared to the August report and the total in the overall labor force is larger than both the previous month and at the same time one year ago.

"The job market in Huntington County is strong," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.  "Nearly every major employer in our County has positions available.  The economy is very robust at the moment," Wickersham concluded.
