September Unemployment Rate Drops

  The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the September Unemployment Report.  The rate for Huntington County was reported at 3.4% down slightly from the August rate of 3.9%.  The jobs outlook continues to improve as  the County's rate started the year at 6.7%.

 

"The situation has improved dramatically since June of 2009 when our County's rate topped 14%, leaving 2,977 people unemployed," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.  "Today, there are a reported 634 unemployed with a rate of 3.4%," he added.  "The September report from the State also indicates the largest number of people employed in any month this year at 18,039.  This continues to be good news for Huntington County," Wickersham concluded.
