M & S Industrial Metal Fabricators to Invest

Huntington --

The Common Council for the City of Huntington unanimously approved a ten-year tax abatement in support of M & S Industrial Metal Fabricators as they prepare to invest $750,000.00 for new equipment at their Huntington Plant.  The project will allow the retention of 71 existing employees and an estimated annual payroll of $2,400,000.00.

"Our Community is pleased to assist existing businesses in any way we can," said Mark Wickersham, Executive Director of Huntington County Economic Development.  "It is every bit as important to help retain existing jobs as it is to attract new jobs," he added.

Companies which are approved for tax abatement can only benefit if they make the investment.  Once the abatement is approved, the Company must, under penalty of perjury, file compliance documentation with the City each year while the abatement is in force.  This requirement gives the Municipality the opportunity each year to evaluate whether the Company has performed as reported during the original application process.

"M & S is a very fine corporate citizen.  We are honored they call Huntington home.  Gary Mickley, Jay Buzzard and their team not only operate an excellent business, but they are very active in supporting our Community.  We congratulate their committment and success," Wickersham concluded.
