The Huntington plant of Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has earned honors from one of its customers for shipping products with a very low rate of defects.

The customer, PACCAR, awards premier supplier status to suppliers with fewer than 50 defects per million products shipped. At the Bendix Huntington plant, the number of defective parts is just more than 15 parts per million. In other words, Bendix builds a successful product more than 99.995 percent of the time.

PACCAR designs and manufactures trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates.

Bendix, which opened its Huntington plant in 1980, supplies more than 29,000 different parts for PACCAR, shipping nearly 970,000 pieces to the company in 2013.

Mike Pogorelc, plant manager in Huntington, says the 400 employees of the local facility are integral in the success of the plant, which has implemented more than 1,600 process improvement ideas in the past year.
