June Unemployment Rate at 3.2%

 

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, has released the Unemployment Report for June of 2019.

 

The agencies report the unemployment rate for Huntington County at 3.2%.  The report shows little variation from the previous month at 2.9%, with the number of people in the workforce, as well as those employed having increased slightly.  The unemployment rate compares with 3.8% in June last year.

 

"Seasonality is often a factor in the summer months," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.  "Huntington County's jobs market per the State's data, is slightly stronger than the average across Indiana," he added, with Huntington County ranked 47 of 92 County unemployment rates.

 

"Job posting website Indeed.com, listed 202 job openings available within 10 miles of downtown Huntington," Wickersham said.  He concluded, "Jobs are available for those who want and are able to work.  They are just a 'click away.'"
