June Unemployment at 3.3% July 22, 2025 Report The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, has released the June Unemployment Report. The rate posted for Huntington County was 3.3% up slightly from 3% in May.The reporting period typically covers from the 11th of the previous month through the 10th of the month of the report. In this case, May 11-June 10. The data reports there were an additional 130 people in the Huntington County labor force compared to the previous month. The report also shows 70 more people in the “employed” column, with an increase of 60 in the number of unemployed, bringing that number to 641 for the reporting period. Job posting site, Indeed.com, reports over 700 immediate job openings within 10 miles of Huntington and over 5,000 available jobs within 25 miles of Huntington. The June rate in Huntington County puts the County tied with 10 other Counties for the 63rd lowest unemployment rate of the State’s 92 Counties, and in a 3-way tie for the 3rd lowest rate among the 11 Counties in NE Indiana. All of the 11 NE Indiana Counties were either at or below the State-wide average of 3.7% illustrating the strength of our Regional economy. "I think it’s important for analysists to remember these aren’t just statistics. We’re talking about people.
