Jobless Rate Declines in May

 
 
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the May Unemployment Report.  The rate for Huntington County was 3.8%,down from 4.4% the previous month.
 
"The total labor force and total number employed are both up among Huntington County residents since the first of the year," said Mark Wickersham, executive director of the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.  "Not only is the number of unemployed declining, but the number of people working and in the workforce is increasing," he added.
 
The total Huntington County labor force has grown by 428 since January of 2016 and is up from one year ago.  The number of people working is up 209 from April of this year.
 
"The statistical data continues to reflect a consistently strong jobs market for Huntington County residents," Wickersham concluded.
