Indiana Receives Gold Shovel Award

Huntington, IN- The State of Indiana has been awarded its first-ever Gold Shovel award from Area Development Magazine.  It was the State's talented workforce and business-friendly environment that clenched the award.  The key industry clusters best utilized in Indiana were also considered and include transportation, distribution and logistics, sustainable energy, information technology and advanced manufacturing.
 
Huntington County contributes to this success through recent projects such as the attraction of Continental Structural Plastics 350 jobs and $9.1 million investment and the $22 million project by Helena Chemical, a division of Tokyo-based Marubeni Corporation.
 
Mark Wickersham, HCUED's Executive Director, is pleased that the Huntington County can contribute to the overall success of the State, saying, "This is a tremendous award for the State of Indiana to receive.  I am proud that Huntington County has been attracting industries such as CSP and Helena Chemical and can assist in the recovery that Indiana is achieving."  He added,
"The two Huntington projects mentioned above are among the top 20 projects in Indiana for 2010."
