Huntington--

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) hosted a public meeting on July 22, 2010 at Huntington University to discuss an air quality permit application filed by Helena Chemical Company as the Company evaluates Huntington for a potential fertilizer packaging and distribution plant.

Several area media outlets, in response to the media advisory filed by IDEM to announce the meeting, have published erroneous reports suggesting that Helena Chemical Company will be producing pesticides at the proposed Huntington location.  IDEM corrected that reference at the public meeting, specifically explaining that the company has no plans to produce pesticides at the location and the permit application pending with IDEM has nothing to do with pesticides.

The air quality permit relates to particulate matter not ozone nor other regulated air quality issues.

IDEM offiicals confirmed at the public meeting that they have no record of regulatory or compliance concerns involving Helena Chemical.
