Employment Picture Continues to Improve

The October 2010 unemployment rate for Huntington County stood at 9.5% down from 12.6% one year ago.  This is the 5th consecutive month of improvement in Huntington County.  The October 2010 rate at 9.5% is the first time since December of 2008 that the county's rate has dropped below double-figures. 
 
According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, there were 312 more Huntington County Residents employed in October as compared to September and 533 more jobs compared with one year ago. 
 
"The improving employment picture is very encouraging, especially as we enter the holiday season," said Mark Wickersham, Executive Director of Huntington County Economic Development.  He added, "We're still a long way from a full recovery and bull market but the situation is definately stabilizing."
