April Unemployment Rate at 2.4% May 22, 2023 Report The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, has released the April Unemployment Report. The rate for Huntington County residents was listed at 2.4%, down from 3.3% the previous month and slightly lower than the State-wide average of 2.6%. According to the job posting website, Indeed.com, 476 jobs are listed as available within ten miles of Huntington. "Huntington County is blessed to have numerous work opportunities with excellent employers," said Mark Wickersham, executive director for the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation. "When I post the unemployment report each month, I also include a small sample of the available jobs via Indeed.com as a service to anyone needing an opportunity to work. The HCEDC website also has a link to our County's Core/Primary Employers, both as a way to learn about the work thousands of local residents do every day in our local industries and to potentially connect customers, vendors and job seekers with potential opportunities. The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory is another a great resource to learn about the wonderful things businesses do in Huntington County," he added. "Huntington's Downtown Merchants are also fortunate to benefit from the work of local volunteers who have created a wonderful downtown business directory," he said. "And new videos from Smiley Face Media of Huntington help tell our story even more effectively. Our Community is very talented," he concluded.
