April Unemployment Rate 4.4%

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the unemployment report for April. The rate for Huntington County was reported at 4.4%, down from 5.0% in March. The report reflects 446 more people in the labor force compared to January and 367 more people employed during the same period.  The seasonally adjusted unemployment average for the State of Indiana stood at 5.2%. 
 
"Growth in the manufacturing sector continues to power our jobs picture," said Mark Wickersham, executive director for the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.  "Northeast Indiana leads the State in the creation of jobs in the manufacturing sector and manufacturing as a percentage of our economic base," he added.
