November Unemployment at 1.6% December 20, 2021 Report The Indiana Department of Workforce Development, in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, has released the unemployment report for November. The rate for Huntington County was reported at 1.6%, down from 3.6% one year ago. The rate for the State of Indiana stood at 2.1% The County by County unemployment rate ranged from a high of 4.7% in Howard County to a low of 1.2% in Union County. According to job posting site Indeed.com there are 715 immediate job openings within 10 miles of Huntington. "I think the tight labor market gave retailers a need to find seasonal workers for the Holiday Season a little earlier than in the past. That, plus strength in the manufacturing sector contributed to the rate being even lower than October," said Mark Wickersham, executive director for the Huntington County Economic Development Corporation.
