Plain Dealer Issues Correction December 5, 2024 Report The Huntington County Economic Development Corporation has requested the Plain Dealer Newspaper to correct the mischaracterization of a recent report to the Huntington County Commissioners. An article published by the newspaper on November 28, incorrectly reported that HCUED Executive Director, Mark Wickersham, "in a related matter" talked about the county's electrical grid...Here is a copy of the email HCUED sent to the Plain Dealer in response:My report to the Commissioners is NOT IN ANY WAY connected, relevant nor even remotely “related to” the solar ordinance NOR any other project. In a completely and totally unrelated way, I am simply researching the electrical capacity currently servicing the geography of Huntington County. The Commissioners are not funding nor directing the research. No power provider is funding the report. It is simply a private sector research project and I’m generally keeping the Commissioners informed of my work. There is no other “agenda” or “drama” with the research. Given the public’s very appropriate and passionate interest in the solar discussion, it is vital to be clear that my project is in no way related. Please publish a correction. Given the intensity of the arguments about solar and the potential harm which could be done to both my reputation and that of my business by your incorrect characterization, a public apology for the error would be welcomed. Thank you. No reply had been received per this posting (November 27, 2024, 12:48pm).UPDATE - The Plain Dealer telephoned on December 2 to issue a preliminary apology. A printed correction is pending. The Plain Dealer published an error correction on Thursday, December 5 on Page A2.
